PROJECT SUMMARY

Hospice of Miami County (HOMC) constructed a new campus to meet the needs of community residents requiring palliative and hospice services. The campus includes a new patient care building, an administration building, and a chapel for private meditation, celebrations, and services. The state-of-the-art Hospice House features 12 patient care rooms with views to the outside and access to a private patio for patients and visitors, a spa room, homelike gathering spaces, and a kitchenette for family and friends. The administration building accommodates the offices of HOMC, home care services, volunteer offices, and a 150-seat community room.

PROJECT SUMMARY

BBA was retained to serve as the owner’s representative and architect of record to help Triad Technologies produce criteria documents for the 45,000 SF facility addition consisting of manufacturing, warehouse, and office space. Bidding documents were distributed to solicit cost proposals from pre-qualified design/builders. The owner saved approximately $270,000 by bidding the construction to receive the best value.

Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus | Oak Harbor, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

Riverview Healthcare Campus of Ottawa County in Oak Harbor, Ohio embarked on an exciting full-scale renovation of the 100,000 SF facility. The project included a refresh of the existing common areas and residential spaces to update their image and promote a business model for wellness and healthy, active living. In addition to relocating and renovating memory care and short-term rehab, assisted living was added as a feeder to the other services offered and accommodates aging-in-place for the county’s residents. The front lobby was converted into the town square, which includes a theater, beauty salon, general store, doctor’s office, library, café, and solarium. Brown & Bills Architects, working as an affiliate of Design Group 3, LLC (DG3), provided architectural, planning, and project coordination services.

Talbott Tower Lobby Renovation | Dayton, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

Built in 1958, Talbott Tower is a 197,000 SF mixed-use commercial office and retail building located in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Phase One of the multi-phased project involved renovating the first-floor lobby and includes contemporary common and snack areas for building tenants and visitors, an updated security desk, a valet parking waiting area, and a parking garage office. The wood ceiling, lighting upgrades, and easily maintained furniture were selected to create an inviting first impression that complements the building’s classic Art Deco style.

PROJECT SUMMARY

BBA worked with Hematite in Englewood, Ohio, to produce criteria drawings for this 180,000 SF automotive manufacturing facility, consisting of manufacturing and office space. The facility is designed for a future 60,000 SF expansion of the manufacturing area. The stunning metal paneling surrounding the entrance is iridescent to sunlight.

Greater Dayton RTA | Dayton, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

Brown and Bills Architects, working as an affiliate of Design Group 3, LLC (DG3), provided architectural, planning, and engineering services to the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA). This exterior restoration project of the Wright Stop Plaza included new exterior lighting and window shading devices, restoration of the masonry and terra cotta, and the replacement of windows and roofs on the historic building. Services included design, renderings, construction drawings, specifications, and construction observation.

Montgomery County Board of Elections | Dayton, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

The project involved remodeling two levels of the Montgomery County Administration Building to create more functional space for the County Board of Elections. In addition to accommodating significant numbers of early voters during presidential elections, the Board of Elections is also required to securely store large numbers of voting machines during non-election times. Two other departments were relocated in multiple, coordinated phases to minimize downtime. The final phase included constructing a new elevator and loading dock, allowing semi-trucks to maneuver more efficiently on the site.

Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton | Dayton, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

This 88,000 SF facility is nestled among 17 tree-studded acres and numerous water features. The renovation project incorporates this stunning natural scenery into the building’s interior. Designs that bring nature into healthcare and long-term care facilities have shown to have a therapeutic effect on residents and families. Natural warm colors and textures were included in building materials, interior decorations, and furnishings. Tree bark wall-coverings and river rocks line the paths of travel. Ceilings are painted a soft sky blue and spotted with illuminated resin “clouds.” Tree branches in niches and transition spaces complete the naturalistic theme.

AAA North Office | Dayton, Ohio

PROJECT SUMMARY

The North Corporate Office for AAA Miami Valley embodies the latest concepts in serving AAA members, such as separated offices for private counseling, a travel store, self-service racks for travel publications, and a conference center. Distinctive to this Dayton, Ohio location is sustainable energy engineering of the geothermal HVAC system. This system uses the natural warmth of the earth to heat and cool the building. Benefits include lower operating costs, reduced noise and dependency on natural gas, and a long service life with low maintenance requirements.
