Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park

PROJECT SUMMARY

Aviation Trail, Inc. (ATI), a non-profit volunteer organization, has a mission to preserve and promote aviation heritage in Dayton and the Miami Valley. The building anchors the historic Wright Cycle Shop and the Hoover Block Building, serving as a focal point and visitors center to begin the experience of visiting the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. Brown & Bills Architects (BBA) carried out the preservation of the Setzer Building’s historic façade. This renewal is a part of a larger effort to revive the historic Third Street business district. The ATI building houses artifacts and exhibits depicting Dayton’s local aviation heritage.

The Dave Gold Parachute Collection is located on the second floor and is operated by ATI. BBA led a team consisting of representatives of the National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and the U.S. Air Force that organized, evaluated, and documented the vast parachute collection.
